Game Devlopment, Parody, Project Manager, Uncategorized Editorial, Game Development, Graphic Designer, Management, ParodyLocation: Hybrid: Physically remote, spiritually omnipresent
Studio: CrunchForge™ Studios
Salary: Negotiable, like your grip on reality
Start Date: As soon as we realize we need a new creative direction
About CrunchForge™ Studios:
At CrunchForge™, we don’t just make games — we envision them. Our games are daring, boundary-pushing, genre-defying masterpieces in progress. We aim to make the kind of game people will talk about for years. (Usually with phrases like “so ambitious” or “still in Early Access.”)
We believe creativity is at the heart of everything we do, especially when it’s completely incompatible with deadlines, budgets, or engine limitations.
The Role:
We’re seeking a Creative Director to lead the conceptual vision of our next flagship title: Codename: Project Overkill: Redux Ascension. You’ll oversee the art, narrative, and design teams, fusing bold ideas into a cohesive vision that can somehow survive production. You’ll be the torchbearer for creative excellence—and the main source of confusion for the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Envision a groundbreaking game concept with story, mechanics, tone, art style, and thematic depth… and then casually change it every 6 weeks
- Collaborate with Art, Narrative, and Design leads to unify creative direction while keeping a perfectly straight face during contradicting feedback loops
- Deliver compelling presentations to executives who respond with “but is it trending on TikTok?”
- Translate your vision into mood boards, lore documents, pitch decks, and cryptic metaphors
- Champion the “Big Picture” while someone else figures out how to make the camera stop clipping
- Protect the integrity of the vision while pretending to understand scope
Requirements:
- 7+ years in creative leadership roles in game development or similar chaos-intensive industries
- Proven ability to deliver creative projects from ideation to production without losing the plot (literally or figuratively)
- Deep understanding of game design, art direction, and narrative structure, or at least how to speak passionately about them in meetings
- Experience directing cross-functional teams toward a “unified vision” that changes mid-sprint
- A portfolio of titles where your contribution can be measured in both brilliance and blood pressure
- Mastery of PowerPoint, improvisation, and the phrase “It’s still early days.”
Preferred (but not required):
- A background in film, theater, philosophy, or “just vibes”
- Ability to talk about color theory while ignoring frame rate drops
- Fluent in metaphor, narrative arcs, and “inspirational ambiguity”
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine or at least willing to pretend you understand what blueprints are
- Willingness to kill your darlings (and others’… gently)
What We Offer:
- Full creative control!*
*until the publisher gives notes - A passionate team of developers who are 48% inspired and 52% terrified
- Access to cutting-edge tools and technology, or whatever isn’t broken that week
- Unlimited PTO, as long as you define “unlimited” as “not during vertical slice, alpha, beta, or post-launch support”
- Opportunities to reinvent the medium (or at least the mood lighting in the trailer)
